The front-of-house area for investment firm Forsyth Barr displays a smart use of materials that required an exacting standard of workmanship. The area, on the 22nd floor of a Lambton Quay high rise, features a combination of timber-lacquered wall battens which are installed on the lift fronts and extend around curved walls into the reception, resulting in a comfortable flow and natural feel.
A selected stone tile is installed in the expansive waiting area and a feature stone patterned wall sits directly behind the reception. All the meeting rooms that back onto the front of house have had a detailed manifestation built into their glass to maintain privacy while letting in natural light.
The curved walls and glass across the reception area required careful planning, with prototypes and templates made before manufacture proceeded.
One meeting room adjacent to the reception has an elevation of curved glass which had to be millimetre perfect to fit into the aluminium partition suite. Feature lighting enhances all the special materials used through the entrance and waiting areas.
In the back of house, staff enjoy a comfortable kitchen area consisting of a timber overlay floor system, a built-in seating area and modern joinery units and appliances.
