Project Description

A 12-floor fitout has given Wellington City Council staff a new temporary home on The Terrace. Prior to the six-month refurbishment and strengthening, the floor space was occupied by PwC.

Multiple subcontractors were coordinated as existing floor plates were refurbished, new ceilings, lights and carpet tiles installed, and offices repainted.

As required under the latest design code, the existing in-ceiling services were seismically restrained and separated. This meant relocating some services and installing additional hangers and support bracing that seismic compliance requires. With limited space due to the amount of building services, it was a challenging aspect of the job.

Floors were handed over on a rolling basis following review by an independent engineer who signed off all works. Long hours and extra resources saw the project completed within the tight timeframe.
