This high-quality interior fitout was completed for the rapidly expanding accounting software firm Xero. Given the age of the John Chambers building, the design intent was to maintain an exposed ceiling highlighting the soffits and beams.
A raised floor was constructed with all the building services, including the air conditioning system, located underneath it. The floors’ acoustics properties were boosted by nova hush linings on the ceilings and Autex wall panelling in the meeting rooms. An acoustic underlay was also used between the raised floor and the overlay timber flooring.
One design feature is the curved and perforated aluminium screens that separate meeting rooms and utility areas from the open plan workspace. The screens are supported by engineered LVL timber posts fixed to steel brackets. A template of each section was made before the panels were put into production. Using a water jet cutter, a detailed perforation was then cut into each sheet giving the screens their unique appearance.
The work required careful attention to detail. Xero were delighted with their newly created space and the refurbishment was completed on schedule.
