Matt heads our Auckland leadership team and is a director across LT McGuinness. His first steps in construction came as a 13-year-old labourer on building sites during the school holidays. In 2003 he began a cadetship with us while studying for diplomas in construction technology and construction management. After training as a QS he was project site manager on the Chews Lane development and he won the NZ Building Awards’ Young Achiever Award in 2015. That year Matt moved north to set up our Auckland operations, moving quickly to hire new staff and managing the development of two apartment buildings on the Wynyard Quarter. Matt has a particular focus on ECI and new projects. He continues to mentor construction management students and is heavily involved in our Emerging Leaders programme.
